By Alan D Campbell When Jesus Christ returns to this earth and establishes the Kingdom of God the Kingdom of God, who will teach people the truth of God? Will Jesus Christ do it all by himself or do the resurrected saints have a role to play in teaching people the truth of God? The purpose of this article is to show how the resurrected saints will be teachers in the Kingdom of God. A Kingdom of Priests When God entered into the old covenant with the House of Israel, he told them that if they obeyed his voice and kept his covenant that they would be a kingdom of priests (Exodus 19:5-6). He did not say that at that time they were a kingdom of priests. For the House of Israel to become a kingdom of priests that had to obey his law and keep his covenant. The entire House of Israel was to become a kingdom of priests. They were to become a model nation that would learn Gods law, serve God, and teach the Gentiles. However, Israel forsook God, broke his law, and followed the pagan gods of the nations (II Kings 17:7-23). Christians are now a royal priesthood. This truth is described by the apostle Peter in I Peter 2:5, 9. I Peter 2:5, 9 “5Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” “9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light” (KJV) These verses show how every Christian is to offer up spiritual sacrifices just as the sons of Aaron offered up animal sacrifices. Christians are to offer up spiritual sacrifices such as prayers for others, praises and thanksgiving to God, and acts of kindness (Psalms 50:14, 23; Hebrews 13:15-16). The main duty of a priest was to teach the people the law of God (Deuteronomy 24:8; II Kings 17:27; II Chronicles 15:3; Nehemiah 8:9; Malachi 2:7). Christians should proclaim the praises or virtues of God to others (I Peter 2:9). Christians are to be teachers in this life as they prepare to be teachers in the Kingdom of God (Hebrews 5:12). The resurrected saints will be kings and priests in the Kingdom of God as shown in Revelation 5:8-10. Revelation 5:8-10 “8And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. 9And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” (KJV) The four living creatures and the 24 elders are singing a song about how the saints are going to be kings and priests. Therefore, the last part of verse 9 and verse 10 should read as “and hast redeemed them to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made them unto our God kings and priests: and they shall reign on the earth.” As priests Christians will be the messengers of God to teach his law to the people (Malachi 2:7). The Mountain of the Lord People in the Kingdom of God will be eager to learn about Gods law and his ways as shown in Isaiah 2:2-4 Isaiah 2:2-4 “2And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” (KJV) Climbing a mountain takes effort. If the mountain is a very high one, it takes a great deal of effort. The mountain of the Lords house is going to be established in the top of the mountains. This language is symbolic. It shows that the Kingdom of God is going to have more authority than that of any other nation. Because the mountain of the Lords house is going to be in the top of the mountains, people will have to make an effort to go there to learn of Gods ways. They will have to hunger and thirst to learn Gods way more perfectly. Nations will say to other nations, come join us in the climb to the mountain of the Lord so that we can learn more of his way. They will want to learn Gods law and his way that leads to lasting peace among nations. The House of Israel will loathe themselves because of their sins (Ezekiel 20:43 and Ezekiel 37:31). But some nations may refuse to go to Jerusalem. They may think the journey to the mountain of the Lord is not worth the trip. Jesus Christ will rebuke them for their rebellion. He will serve as their shepherd and guide them to the path that leads to peace and abundant blessings. They will eventually heed Christs instruction and change their weapons of war into implements of agriculture and other equipment that will bring blessings to all. Teachers Will Be Nearby In addition to going to the mountain of the Lord to learn more of Gods ways, Christ will provide teachers to be near to the people as shown in Isaiah 30:20-21. Isaiah 30:20-21 “20And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: 21And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” (KJV) The teachers will not be moved into a corner because the people will be eager to learn. However, God will discipline the people and nations who rebel against his laws. One example of such discipline is that the nations who refuse to keep the Feast of Tabernacles will not receive any rain (Zechariah 14:16-19). Although God will send afflictions to nations to help them learn that disobedience brings curses, the saints will serve as teachers. The saints will not be far away, but rather they will be near to the people. The saints will help to light the way with the truth of Gods word so that people will know which path they must walk to obey God and receive his blessings. The saints will serve as teachers under Jesus Christ who is the high priest and king of kings. The saints will teach the people the difference between the holy and the unholy and between the clean and the unclean. The saints will teach the people the truth about Gods law (Ezekiel 22:26 and Ezekiel 44:23-24). Conclusion The House of Israel was to be a kingdom of priests, but they broke the covenant they made with God. Christians are now a royal priesthood. Christians should offer up spiritual sacrifices in the form of prayers for others, praise and thanksgiving to God, and good works. In the Kingdom of God, the saints will be a kingdom of priests. The saints will teach people the law of God and how to apply it in their lives. The saints will be very close to the people and show true concern for them. The saints have a great destiny as kings and priests in the Kingdom of God. By Douglas Hoover TRICKS IVE LEARNED Digital Designs are not only a current wave or trend, it is predicted to be the wave of the future. I am glad I discovered this concept four years ago and adapted it to my water feature business. I started constructing waterfalls in 1982 and have since designed and built over 1,900 in southern California.All my designs were sketched by hand and I am by no means an artist. My clients really were not sure from mysketches what they were going to end up with. Now, however, with digital virtual designs, there is never anyquestion. I spent over two years using Microsoft’s Digital Image Suite program to cut images of rocks, portions of falls,ponds, plants, fish, turtles etc. from close to 10,000 photos and created a digital library to pull from. Now I canliterally create thousands of different water features from these images. I placed some of my virtual designs on our website and one day, one of my old clients and friend called me. She exclaimed, “I just saw my cat Mittens sitting on a rock of a waterfall staring down at some fish in a pond and it is not my pond, how is that possible? Where did you take that picture?” She was completely flabbergasted! Goes to show how realistic Digital designs are. Microsoft’s program is only one of many programs. I also own Photoshop and Illustrator, but both programs have a large learning curve and for the average person are very costly. Digital Image Suite is only around $100 and fairly easy to master. In creating a pond design digitally, you first need a digital photo of the area (mega pixels minimum). Next, load it into your digital imaging program. Now you are ready. Many graphic or photo software programs will let you manipulate an object. For example, each individual object that is dragged to the work space is surrounded by a bounding box with nodes on the sides and corners on the box. By clicking on a corner node and holding down the mouse, you can drag the corner to make the object larger or smaller. By clicking on the side node you can make the object in the box fatter or taller. With this feature alone you can totally disguise any object, be it a rock or plant, by changing its dimensions. Just by dragging a rock to the work space, copying and pasting it several times, you can change the shape of each copy of the original object. Not only can you make the rock wider, taller, flatter, larger, or smaller, you can also warp the shape, change the color, shade it or tint it. So with only a handful of rocks on the work space, you could create a veritable rock quarry! By dragging the nodes in a section of pond water, you can make the water fit any size pond by stretching or narrowing it. Need a couple more weirs in your waterfalls? A few more plants in the pond? A cat, a tree, a rock, bench, gazebo, bridge, stream? Just click and drag & paste, its that simple. Right after seeing the virtual photograph of his back yard, a homeowner exclaimed, Lets do it. Not, how much will it cost, just Lets do it. Another client joked, Wow, this is so beautiful, I think instead of you building the waterfall, Ill just have this enlarged and paste it over our living room window! I want to encourage you to add digital design to your business. You will not just impress your clients, they will know exactly what they are going to end up with. Did I mention increased revenue? Not only do I charge $350 per pond design photo, I recently increased my construction prices by 30 percent. And since implementing digital pond designs in my bids, my closing ratio on signed contracts has soared from 60% to 80%. Eight out of ten proposals/contracts come back signed with a deposit check enclosed. Not to mention an additional $350 value added, for a digital pond design. Lets face it: people like to see what they are getting before they hand over their hard earned money. SOME TECHNICALITIES If you are considering adding digital designing to your business, make sure you invest in a good digital camera at least 5 megapixels. The one I use is the Fuji S2 Pro SLR. It is 12.1 Mb or over 12 million pixels per inch (4,256 x 2,848). Also,your computer needs to be able to handle the software with the proper amount of Ram, and the appropriate size processor and hard drive. If you are using a Windows system, the minimum that you should have is Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP. To work with most digital imaging software programs, your computer should have a 500 mHz or higher processor, 128 Mb of Ram or higher. I have 851 mHz and 640 mb of Ram. Your hard drive space should be at least 250 Mb (mine is 120 Gb, however I work with video also), super VGA monitor (800 x 600), 16 bit color or better. MAKING THE SALE If you are a contractor or pond builder, constructing ponds and waterfalls for a living, you must ask yourself, Do I want to increase my income by 15 to 20 percent?” If the answer is yes, then you need to start providing your clients with a digital pond design. When I meet with my client for the first time to survey their yard, I ask several important questions: 1. Where do you spend most of your time when you are inside the house? Ninety percent of the time the answer is, the living room. 2. Where do you spend most of your time when you are outside? That answer is usually the patio. By establishing these facts up front, you can explain that the waterfall and pond location needs to be nearby the place where they spend the majority of their time. For example, outside the living room window or slider and near the patio. If their waterfall and pond are located in the back corner of their property, the only time they will enjoy it is if they make an effort to go out to where it is. Once these issues are settled you now know where to take the picture. It is best to do a pond design in the place where it will end up being built. The next step is to explain that I take a digital picture of the area and create a virtual photo of the proposed waterfall and pond. I then explain that if they decide to go ahead with the project we will deduct the entire $350 from the proposal. This is an incentive for them to go with you to get back their money. If they do not accept your proposal you still made $350, which more than pays for the time spent. You will rarely receive a no when your prospective client is deciding what to do. In addition, I mention to the client that if they decide to get other bids, they will have the photo which will allow them to compare apples to apples when getting the other bids. The best part is they see their finished water feature actually in their back yard. A virtual photo of a digital pond design is to a waterfall and pond builder what a movie preview trailer is to the motion picture industry. While visiting the Macintosh dealer in San Diego, I was asked to observe the quality of the Power Macs processor. The Apple representative played a trailer from the movie Winged Migration. This clip was designed to play on the average Windows screen in a 3″ x 3″ window. He played it on the Power Macs 30″ screen at full screen size. The result of this single visual presentation was my response: Ill take it, not How much? When your client sees an award winning masterpiece in their own yard, more than likely they will say yes. Please note that my sales success rate of more than 80 percent is not solely the result of using virtual photos. I have been designing and constructing waterfalls and ponds for over twenty five years, with over 1,900 projects completed. However, it is obvious that this innovation can greatly enhance the success of any business, no matter how young. It would not be fair, after telling you all the great benefits of digital design, for you to have nowhere to get the waterfall and pond images. The truth of the matter is, after sharing with you about the various digital software programs, I went on line to find waterfall and pond related images. To my surprise I could not find any. So I have decided to work on making mine available to the public. It is not available yet. Try your luck on the net and see if you can find any. If you do, please let me know. First, have you ever asked for something and got something different to what you thought you*d asked for? Or have you ever thought you had asked for something and got a blank expression or worse… just got completely ignored? Or even worse, been half-way through telling someone what you do for a living and had it dawn on you that they have lost interest in you the moment you began to speak. Of course not… that kind of stuff only happens to me… right? A year or so ago if someone asked me what I did, I*d have gone into my ten-second-elevator speech. Some people were interested and said they*d heard about what I did, some dismissed it and occasionally, I picked up a client. More recently I began to define myself more clearly. Then I redefined my coaching practice. Then I found a new way of introducing myself. What I found was the more I honed in one specific purpose of my business the more interested people became in me and in what I did. Here is a quick example for you. A local insurance broker once brokered over 120 policies to ensure they were competitive. Then one day they slashed the policies they sold down to just 26. The result? They increased sales by 40%. By getting specific, really knowing yourself, your product and its purpose in the market place you come over with greater clarity. That clarity brings greater congruency to your message. The definition had to be clearer than *coach*. The workshops I designed now help people discover clarity in who they are, what they do and how they do it. Basically they are designed so people can put real purpose into what they do. When you mean it, you make things happen! It*s simple… if you want to spend more time working with clients as opposed to finding them then get clear on who you are, what you do and how you do it. My third point is about, clarity, clarity, clarity. When I created clarity I set out with an intention. When I move that intention forward each day I create momentum. Every small action I take each day over a sustained period just builds up, like a giant ball of snow rolling down a mountainside. Think about this. The best sales people are the best because they are clear on their product. They are also clear on who they are and how they best sell to people. Other sales people, the ones who don*t know their product, and don*t seem congruent are more like confidence tricksters. You can fool some of your prospects, but you can*t fool them all. Everything we want is out there somewhere. All we have to do is put out the right signals and make the right noises.
