Christian Dating: Useful Tips

Monday, October 29th, 2007

By Milos Pesic Christian dating does not consist of any fixed set of rules or regulations for the person who is going for dating. Instead, it is the combination of needs of modern times, combined with the foundation of our religious culture. A true Christian, who has even the least knowledge of his religion, will not have to make any special effort to date within the realms of Christianity. This is because your values always stay with you in whatever you do in life. Be Approachable The first step in finding a date is to let people around you know that you are looking for someone special. This helps a great deal in interested people approaching you, as the word gets around. Having Common Beliefs Dating someone, who does not share same beliefs as you and then trying to change his or her thinking, can be very tiring for any relationship. Moreover, it does not workout most of the time. Therefore, it is advisable to date someone from your own faith and try to work on making the relationship better. It is always better, to let the other person know exactly, what your preferences are and what you value more in a relationship. It always pays, to have a clear understanding, as it leaves no room for undue expectations. Finding Your Mate At Christian Dating Sites So, to find someone, with same beliefs, you can visit Christian dating sites. These are especially helpful, as you precisely reach a common area, where people think, like you and want the relationship to grow, within the bounds of religion. Therefore, you enter a relation, where both the partners have common preset notions. Also, be true to yourself when you finally set your eyes on someone. Do not let your infatuation shroud your wisdom. Make certain that the person is worthy of you and your family will approve of him. Self Control Is The Key A Christian does not give in to physical attraction. Healthy dating, where you meet and spend quality time together is permissible, physical intimacy is not. So, while it is easy to fall prey to temptation, a true Christian will always avoid any such thing from happening. Moving together in groups and meeting in public places is the best way to keep temptation at bay. Taking Your Time It is important to take enough time to know the other person before entrusting yourself to him. A decision, which is not thought over well may not be the best decision and may have its repercussions. A true Christian believes in prayer and prayer has the power to guide you in the right direction. God gives vision to true believers and gives them the power to make right decisions. After a few meetings, you should be able to decide, that the person you are dating deserves you or not. Is it Time to Pass on Your Wisdom? Are You Ready to be a Mentor?

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

By Adam C. Coole The busiest month of the year is looming, youve three admin projects outstanding and one of your staff has just handed in their notice… Youll now be working late for weeks! There must be another way? Unlike the US where it is commonplace, few event companies in the UK have ever thought about taking on interns yet they are missing out on a flexible, energetic, and creative work force that wouldnt hurt their budgets. There are many people searching for event industry work experience or work placements who could provide you with this low cost, low risk solution. Some are looking for just a few hours a week, and others for a nine month full time role, but you can be assured that they are all keen and interested in the industry. Together with the boom in the UK event industry has come the search for work experience by many students and career-changers. This new blood coming into the event industry is keen to gain experience and the supply is presently swamping the demand. Often thought of being just cheap labour, the benefits of hiring an intern or student are more than youd think. Benefits of hiring an intern The most obvious benefit is the cost, as you wont need to pay an intern the same salary as you would a qualified full time employee. Though it is negotiable, and you shouldnt treat the hiring of an intern as slave labour, you will still make substantial savings. A couple of days work on an upcoming event may cost you just their lunch, travel expenses and a reference, where as a full time intern for 30-40 weeks deserves a reasonable percentage of your normal administrative support staffs salary. Apart from cost, the flexibility of an intern is hugely beneficial. You decide the hours that they are required, and at which points during the year that you need them. How do you find an intern? Some of the Universities offering event based courses have placement offices that will connect you directly with a list of potential interns each year, though there may not be a suitable university close to you, the students are normally required to complete a placement of 30-48 weeks, and its normally over the same period each year. The other option is to advertise your vacancy in a local paper, trade magazine or event job website which will allow you to recruit quickly whenever you need that additional help. Keep an eye out for recruitment portal sites like Event-Jobs.net who will offer you complimentary listings for voluntary or work placement listings. It makes sense that if you have the desk space, the work for them to do, and the budget to cover it, hiring an intern is a win-win situation. Why not help yourself and the industry by taking on an intern? Youll feel great for investing in the industrys future! Diet and Exercise Evolution: Adaptation (part II) — Examples and Practical Advice

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

By David McCormick Understanding the theory of adaptation (see previous article, Adaptation I) will give you the tools to evaluate your diet and daily routine. If you have any question about whether something is good for you, always examine both the immediate effects and the adaptation effects equally. This article will look at various examples of adaptation and practical advice based on this important theory. Walking Is walking for a long time a good way of losing weight? Look at it this way: the direct effect is that calories are burnt over that period, and you will by using your fat stores for fuel because it is aerobic exercise. So that’s a positive: you’re burning calories, and as long as you don’t eat too much food, you’re losing weight. But what will be the adaptation? You’re telling your body that you will need to walk for a long amount of time to find food. So, how will your body adapt to make you a better walker? Expending energy faster? Burning fat easily? NO WAY. If you need to walk through the savanna for a long time, you want your body to conserve as much energy (fat) as possible and retain as much water as possible. This is the opposite of your goal, you will not lose weight in the long-term, so it is not an optimal solution. Sprinting What about high-intensity exercise? The immediate effect is to burn calories in your blood, but there isn’t enough time to start burning fat. Your muscles may burn with lactic acid, and you can’t keep it up for very long. That isn’t too good, because you won’t burn as many calories as you did walking. But is the adaptation going in the correct direction? Your body will try to make you a better runner by making calories available to you at a moment’s notice to fuel your run (burning fat faster), and will try to get rid of the fat that is slowing you down. This is a great adaptation. The best advice regarding exercise for weight loss in accordance with adaptation is this: warm up by doing a fast walk for 10-15 minutes, so that your body goes into a fat-burning mode. Then, turn up the intensity as high as you can and speed through the next 10-15 minutes. This can be running, climbing stairs, bicycling or whatever activity you like. I recommend a stationary bike because the risk of falling or hurting your joints is minimized. If you do this before breakfast, you’re also training your body to use stored energy (fat) instead of energy from food in your stomach. If You Could Be an Animal… If your physique could resemble an animal’s, which animal would you choose? Try to ignore symbolism, and just pick an animal whose body composition you’d like to approach. Many men would choose a lion and many women would choose a gazelle. These animals have adapted to get the bodies they have, and their adaptation, like yours, is based on how they behave day to day. So how do these animals behave? We can’t compare their diets, because a gazelle is a herbivore, a lion is a carnivore, and humans are omnivores. However, we can look at their exercise needs. A lion, to get food, has to sprint for up to 5 minutes until it grabs its prey, which is usually pretty big. When it does, it wrestles with it for up to 10 minutes, flexing all its muscles and changing positions, putting all its force against the other animal that is resisting with all its might. This builds muscular strength and size and eliminates body fat. A gazelle spends a lot of time eating, but each mouthful is tiny. It takes a long time to eat, and never gorges. When the grass all around it is bare, it bounces off to another place to find food or water. The gazelle is highly alert because it is vulnerable to attack, and often twitches or fidgets to make sure it can escape quickly. When it is attacked, it runs (bounces) incredibly fast for up to 20 minutes until it is safely out of danger. This activity makes it long and slender as an adaptation to its environment. Don’t be a house cat. Many cats are overweight because their environment doesn’t challenge them to run to catch food (or avoid being caught), and sleep or lie around for 18 hours a day. If you have a desk-job, and then watch TV on the couch, that is exactly what you are doing. Three Squares Should you eat only three meals a day and avoid snacking to lose weight? Well, you will be consuming fewer calories, so that’s a plus. However, the bigger effect is this: your body will think food is rare and that you may starve. If you go 5 or 6 hours between meals, or if you skip breakfast and go 16 hours or so without food, what else could your body possibly conclude? Your brain can’t tell your cells “don’t worry, we’re trying to lose weight,” because your intentions don’t mean anything to your organs. Your organs react and adapt to the stimuli presented to them. So they think that you’re in the desert. How do you survive in the desert? Like a camel: Conserve as much food in your body as possible (fat), slow your metabolism to prolong your life (so you’ll feel tired a lot), and retain as much water as possible. What about the opposite? What if you eat small portions every two hours and drink water all the time? Your body will think that you’re in a place where there is food whenever you need it, like a jungle full of fruit trees and other easily furnished food to eat. What is the reaction? Hooray! Better to speed up the metabolism, so that the stomach is finished digesting the previous meal before the next one comes; no need to store fat that is just leeching circulation and water; and get rid of any excess water in the system, because fresh water is constantly coming in. This is in line with your weight loss goals, so this is the route to take. Calories: Eat less or burn more? The final effect of your body’s great adaptation potential is the question of which is more effective: eating fewer calories or burning more calories with exercise? Let’s look at these two propositions in terms of adaptation. If you first remove a significant number of calories from your diet, you will feel less energetic (because calories are energy), therefore, you won’t feel like exercising, and you won’t be able to exercise for as long. On the other hand, if you start exercising more each day, it will make you hungrier (because your body knows it’s not getting enough calories to support this new activity), but as long as you try to keep your eating habits the same and pay attention to satiety by eating foods that make you feel full, you’ll feel great, your endurance will improve and your overall health will keep getting better. At that point, if you reduce the calories in your diet, then you will be able to cope with slightly less energy, because your body will already be more efficient at using that energy to fuel your exercise. A Summary To conclude, in terms of exercise: warm up to get the circulation going with a fast walk for about 20 minutes, then do a high intensity activity for about 10 minutes. The best to do that is before breakfast. In terms of diet: try to reduce your calories overall, but divide them among small meals all day. Never eat a big meal, but snack every hour or two on something healthy. Also, drink as much water as you possibly can all day. These practices are optimized for your body’s natural reactions, so that you will be training your body to lose weight. And whenever you hear diet advice, try to look past the immediate effects and look at it from the perspective of Adaptation. David McCormick is the founder of Weightless Products. Depression Treatment - Going Natural

Friday, October 26th, 2007

By Michael Russell When diagnosed with clinical depression, some people choose not to take medication. Some are worried that they will feel sedated and walk through the rest of their lives in a zombie like state; others fear the possibility of addiction. Some just simply don’t want to give up their nightly glass of wine and fear that mixing it with medication could bring on problems, which it could. Whatever the reasons, they do have the choice of alternative treatment, though in many cases it might take longer to see results. Some people would like to get to the bottom of their feelings and decide to see a therapist. No matter if they are taking medication or going with alternative treatment forms, results are always better when the patient simultaneously gets therapy. Though natural remedies such as herbs and plant extracts have been tested on subjects with depression and proved to have positive results, they are not FDA approved. The patient should investigate each product before taking it and make sure of the side effects. These are very rare and usually tolerable, but could cause serious problems if the patient has other physical conditions. - St. Johns Wort is the most used natural treatment of depression. Upon testing on subjects with depression, positive results were noted as early as 2 weeks after starting. In fact, it was shown to be just as effective as the leading prescription drug for depression. It had best results on mild to moderate depression, but was shown not to have any effect on severe cases of depression. St. John’s Wort can be harmful if it is taken in combination with other medication, so the patient should make sure he informs himself well and tells his physician about any other physical ailments that he has. Though side effects are rare, some patients report dizziness, dry mouth, fatigue, nausea, diahrrea and sensitivity to light. - Valerian Root is most commonly used to treat sleeping disorders that depressive people can experience. It has been proven that it reduces anxiety and stress and improves the quality of sleep. Some people experience digestive problems if they use it for a long period of time and some build up a resistance to its sedative quality and get the opposite result. Instead of feeling sedated, they feel stimulated. - Kava Kava is another plant that makes a person feel relaxed and content. It causes mental alertness that wears off in a few hours and gives way to drowsiness, so it best be taken a few hours before going to bed. It should not be taken by people with liver problems or a steady drinking habit, nor by people taking other medication. Excessive use can cause dizziness and liver problems. - 5-HTP is a natural supplement that converts into serotonin once taken. Serotonin is a brain chemical that influences sleep, mood appetite and behaviour. Before starting to take this supplement, the patient should be tested for his level of serotonin, since the cause of depression could lie elsewhere than in a lack of this chemical. Though no serious negative results of taking 5-HTP have ever been reported, it should not be taken over a longer period. Some side effects may occur, such as nausea, diahrrea, constipation and headaches. - A lack of essential minerals and vitamins can also be behind a depression. Minerals such as zinc, magnesium and potassium ant the B-complex of vitamins can all have a mayor influence on the mood and general well-being. The patient should have a simple blood test first though to see if he is lacking any of these. Being ‘Lucky’ With Women and Dating

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

By Rion Williams Any dating teacher who comes at the approach to women of being ‘lucky’, I would question what they are doing and teaching. There really is a lot of bad advice out there and I just have to say it. Some of the advice out there will actually make things worse, damage your psyche, repel women even more and get you further away from success with women. Mainstream advice (including men’s magazines) is pretty far off too. Take her on an expensive dinner date and maybe you’ll ‘get lucky’ at the end of it. All of it is so antiquated. Women don’t want massive levels of pressure and social expectation forced upon them. When you go on a date and pay for her time with money or gifts, they feel like they ‘owe’ you something. That’s most likely not going to get you anywhere. It’s a waste of time and money if she’s not interested in you. The men’s magazines are notorious for setting men up for failure. Not only are they leaders of sexploiting women as a behavioral conditioning stimulus for men to habitually fear, but they give men terrible advice. Things like, do this and you ‘might’ get lucky with her. We’d lose one testicle just to have a date with her, etc. And the men take what’s in front of them as truth especially when the women with these same attributes behave this way; it only further reinforces her as ‘the prize’. You take this relational approach of being the response to a woman’s (body or ’sexuality’) and you will consistently fail. It’s not in the pick-up lines; those only exacerbate the problem and make it even clearer to her because women already know where you’re coming from. From your relational approach they can tell if they’re interested, maybe interested or definitely not interested. In the maybe interested, they just want to find out more if you can hold your own against her ‘power’. It’s a relational power game upfront with dating. If you’re a mainstream guy, you’ve been conditioned to fail with women whether you know it or not. If the pussy is on a pedestal and you’re the ‘response’, your body language will be broadcasting all the wrong things. That’s why it’s so ‘difficult’. Any putting the woman as the prize to be caught is ineffective. It’s unnatural. Why? Because the way of attraction is that the woman is the response to the stimulus of man. She can’t feel natural attraction or physiological response if he’s doing the backwards thing society tells him to do. She can’t trust him or open up to him if she knows he’s too eager to ‘get some’ of her as the prize. There’s no value in it for her unless she’s really horny and desperate at the time. Who has the relational authority and power when it’s the man who could ‘get lucky’? The woman does. And that’s what’s wrong. It doesn’t work that way. Oh sure, if she wants to use him for more meals or to lock him in for a long-term relationship for his social and personal attributes, the guy could be ‘lucky’…but she still owns him. So anything that says ‘do this’ to ‘get lucky’ with women is just coming from the behavioral reality of women being the prize and you’re just like another hot dog trying to ‘get some’. The answer is in relational dynamics. Re-condition yourself (not from inner game because it’s not enough) to never give your power away and put sexy women in the proper relational dynamic. You have to be the stimulus so they can physiologically trust you in order for them to open up. This is near impossible for most men and it’s getting worse. The way of the natural and those few which are ‘above the game’ is a different relational reality completely. It’s one where there isn’t any luck, rather predictable and consistent results. Sure there will be variables on the levels of response but there is no fear, no drama, no ‘luck’. If you believe like most men that you’d be ‘lucky’ just to get in bed with a woman and you actually care about this area of your life, seriously seek the answers. You will find a lot in my resources that will get you on the right track. It’s not enough that you re-affirm to yourself that ‘I’m the prize’ because that’s not got enough leverage up against the exploited beauty of these women to make a real change for you. Re-affirming or ‘believing’ that you deserve beautiful women in most cases isn’t enough because of your emotional attribution and behavior conditioning which habitually says you don’t deserve them. My success with women is consistent and even predictable. Learn the way. Luck is for the ignorant. Power, attraction and sex is for the cognizant men who are applying relational dynamics. Preparing for a Wedding - A Husband’s View

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

By Gabriel J. Adams You finally got the courage to pop the question to your girlfriend, so you setup an unforgettable moment to ask her to be your wife. Everything went perfectly and she said yes. Now the hard part begins, planning the wedding. Many people think that the husband is exempt from all of the planning of the wedding, because the wife and her mother take care of all of the planning. However in my experience this is not completely true. When my wife and I were planning our wedding, I was involved with quite a few things that I never thought I would have been involved in. The first thing that I recommend doing is hiring a wedding planner. A wedding does not sound like a big deal, but for everything to work out the way you want it, you really need a professional to orchestrate all of the details. Also this will allow you and your fianc the opportunity to enjoy the planning more, and to help not get too stressed out before the big day. Our wedding planner was extremely helpful, and when our flowers were running late, she took care of everything before my wife and I even noticed there was a problem. Another major piece of advice that I can give is make sure that you are on-time for all appointments that your fianc makes regarding the wedding. If she has a meeting to speak to a florist, or a baker for the wedding cake, or a walk-through of the church, make sure that you are there and on-time. Your fianc is already extremely stressed out, especially as the big day approaches, so she does not need to worry about you being there or not. Also I think women sometimes relates being late to not caring, so this can cause much bigger problems down the line, so make sure you are there on-time. If you follow these two main pieces of advice your wedding should go very smoothly, and you will live happily ever after! Looking for great wedding favors? Is Your 4X4 Trail Rated?

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

By David Handler Traction. Articulation. Ground Clearance. Maneuverability. Water Fording. We’ve put your new Jeep vehicle through extreme tests on the most extreme off-road terrain we could find. Trail Rated means your Jeep vehicle is designed to surmount any obstacle you’re likely to encounter and some you may never see. Statement on Jeep Web site Jeeps marketing campaign for its Grand Cherokee, Liberty and Wrangler lines has a lot of existing and potential owners wondering what Trail Rated might do for them. Thats a brilliant move on Jeeps part. In its basic form, Trail Rated is an internal system Jeep is referring to as The New Standard in 4X4 Capability. By creating Trail Rated, Jeep established the industry standard by which others will be judged. Until competitorsor J.D. Power & Associatesintroduce their own measurements, Jeep pretty much owns the benchmark and the minds of all potential 4X4 buyers. Many other companies have developed systems to enhance their products or services, or the delivery of them. Sometimes these even spin off to become self-sustaining businesses. American Airlines did it with their SABRE reservations system which actually makes a whole lot more money these days than airplanes for shareholders. While your system in your small business may not be a candidate for becoming its own revenue stream, it could be a key marketing tool that immediately and powerfully distinguishes you from competitors. Success Handler Action: With your team, list all the things that make you unique your industry-leading (or, at least, local competition-topping) standards. Here are some ideas to get started: Name some things your clients thanked you for recently. Why did they take the time to do that, and what system do you have in place that made these specific transactions go so smoothly clients went out of their way to let you know about it? What elements have you incorporated into your product, service or delivery as a result of trying to streamline that activity and/or noticing what clients were doing or saying? For example, one night at dinner recently, the waitress wrapped my receipt around my credit card, and attached to a pen the one I was to sign. This was a subtle action that caught my attention. Clearly, this restaurant noticed how customers frequently look at two receipts and wonder which one to leave behind. Then they came up with a better way a system and a nice touch that takes their excellent service to a higher standard! What formal processes do you utilize and/or what checklists do you use that could become part of your marketing initiative? A leader in the signs industry, created a system in which all projects flow through a quality control process from start to finish. They perfected it to such a degree they brand Raising The Bar for marketing purposes, commissioning a logo to show their pride and using it as an internal motivator as well. Is there something you do that is highly unique? Think of the Budweiser Born On Date. They were probably putting dates on their beer for a long time, or at least keeping record of them, but by recognizing this system as a marketing opportunity, the created a competitive advantage. Even if it isnt unique, you might be able to market something successfully especially if your competitors arent. For one small business client, we implemented a We Recycle Peanuts campaign, because no one else (read: the big gorilla competitor) was taking advantage of promoting this. The owner told me that for the first time since opening his business several years ago, he hasnt spent one dollar buying peanuts this year…a substantial savings. What really closes sales for you? Maybe its you! If so, this can be a great marketing opportunity. Just think of it: You get x and y and z and, most importantly, you get ME! Now those great marketing guys at Daimler-Chrysler would think thats a brilliant idea! Copyright 2005 by Success Handler, LLC. All rights reserved. How To Talk To The Police When Stopped For A Traffic Violation

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

By David Quinn When I first started police work about 10 years ago, I would never of guessed in a million years I would see what I see daily. I’m not talking about the stuff that everyone associates with police work, like murder scenes, accidents, gangs, etc., those are a given. I’m talking about traffic stops specifically, and how you’re talked to as an officer on these stops at times. Let me explain. Here’s a situation I was in one time where I was working a school zone area. We had received numerous complaints from the school that people were constantly speeding up and down the road. Of course, there were children in the area so it was somewhat serious. Let me also add, my general rule as an individual officer is (and every officer is different), is stopping for 15 MPH over, and issuing the ticket for 5 MPH over. I think that’s more then fair, and most people are happy to hear that. But there’s always that one guy or girl that wants to give you a hard time as a police officer. I can remember stopping a guy that was going 19 over (54 MPH in a 35 MPH zone). The guy was very polite until I came back with the ticket for 5 over. That’s when all hell broke lose. He started yelling at me, and even tried getting out of his car (I pushed it back shut and told him to deal with it in court, not here). Literally, for about 4 minutes, I listened to him yelling at me telling me he was having a bad day and that he didn’t deserve a ticket because of that. He was yelling so loud that he was spitting as he was talking. If you were driving by, you might think he was having a seizure or something (this example is a little more extreme then most). The whole time, I’m trying to be nice explaining that its only for 5 over; that other people were cited for the same amount; etc. But he didn’t care (one thing you learn after working the streets for awhile is no matter how much you talk, how convincing, how much proof, etc. you have, some people DO NOT want to hear what you’re saying). Long story short, I finally got mad and told him to wait in his car. I went back to my cruiser for a moment and put the ticket back to the original amount of 19 MPH over (as the ticket was never actually issued since he refused to take it originally). When I returned, I listened for about 10 seconds, and tossed the ticket in his car since he wouldn’t take it, and walked away. There was no point in standing there as he had his mind made up. The whole point to this is all I wanted to do was issue the ticket while at the same time giving him a break. But some people don’t want breaks. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve dealt with that are rude and disrespectful during a stop. I don’t mind people asking me why I stopped them, or even explaining why they did what they did; that’s all fine, but yelling at me isn’t going to help. So I’ve put together some examples of things NOT to do to help yourself on a traffic stop: 1. Be respectful just as you would when talking to a friend or family member. You don’t have to kiss up, but you should try to be professional and polite when talking to the officer. Its important to remember that officers take in a lot everyday, and their patience starts to wear thin. 2. Don’t yell out immediately “Why did you stop me!” I can’t tell you many times this actually happens. I even get a lot of “Why the f**k did you stop me?” It still amazes me. Obviously this will not help you at all. 3. Showing off in front of your friends in the car is not good. For instance, ignoring the officer while he’s standing there, keeping your radio turned up loud, looking away, etc. 4. Blatant lying. Probably 7 out of every 10 people I stop tell me they didn’t do what I just saw them do. If you’re going to do this, at least be a little bit convincing. For example, I’ve had people tell me far fetched versions of coming to a complete stop at a stop sign for instance, when they went through it so fast I’ve had to look up to make sure the sign was still posted. I can tell you from personal experience, the people that are honest with me, apologize, and tell me the reason (i.e. I’m running late for work, I apologize) will usually get the breaks. My personal attitude is since its been my experience that since I feel that most are being dishonest with me, why not reward the ones that are honest. 5. Fake tears. If an experienced officer suspects that you are crying purposely to get out of a ticket, you will almost always get the ticket and no break. 6. Telling the officer things like “You don’t have anything better to do with your time?” and “You mean to tell me this is more important then catching a bank robber?” These statements are all too often used, and will not help you at all. These are just a few things you can do to help yourself when getting pulled over. Just remember, these officers are just doing their jobs. The more resistance you give them in doing their jobs, the more resistance you’re likely to get yourself. If you’re convinced you did nothing wrong, don’t argue with the officer; handle it in court. Explaining your case to a judge or magistrate in a calm, professional and logical manner will go much farther then arguing or giving the officer a hard time in the street.
