Are You Relationship Ready?

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By Toni Coleman So, you want to fall in love? You are certainly old enough and movingwell along your chosen career path. Many of your friends are either married or in committed relationships. You have grown weary of the singles scene and the solitary life. Therefore, you must be ready, right? Not necessarily. So what is relationship readiness anyway? Exactly what it says. You areadequately capable of handling the commitment and challenges that ahealthy, intimate relationship requires. How do you know if you are ready? What are the characteristics you needto have or acquire in order to be ready for true love? There are four primary areas that you should explore in order to assessyour present state of readiness. 1. Take an inventory of past traumas and related major issues. You should mentally review these and honestly look at how well you have already addressed and resolved them. As you work through each, ask yourself, “Is this impacting me negativelyin my present life.” Also explore with yourself the possibility that theissue could become problematic once you have entered into an intimaterelationship. If you believe that there are things you have not yet adequately dealt with, you need to go to work on these. If you are unsure, then they bear closerexamination. Consider utilizing resources such as therapy or joining a support group. An example of such issues can include, but not be limited to;emotional, physical or sexual abuse in childhood, parents’ divorce, lossof a parent or other loved one, or a past abusive or dysfunctional loverelationship. 2. How’s your self-awareness and self-esteem? If you do not possess adequate self knowledge and a positive sense of self; an intimate relationship will be difficult or impossible to sustain. For instance, do you know yourself well enough to answer the following? Can you state your most deeply held values? Do you know what you can’t live with or without in a relationship? Do you have a good grasp of your life goals? Do you know your own strengths and weaknesses? Now, do a quick assessment of your self-esteem. How do you see yourself? How do others see you? Remember you present different selves: at work with family with friends in gatherings with acquaintances If your answers tell you that you have difficulty accepting and likingyourself, or if others frequently respond negatively to you in yourinteractions with them, then this is an area you should begin work on.Self-love is at the foundation of all healthy relationships. 3. Are your past relationships really in the past? If we don’t get adequate closure on painful experiences/issues frompast relationships, we are at risk of bringing them into present andfuture relationships in order to relive and resolve them. Therefore, it’s important to know that you have dealt adequately withany significant hurt or loss and have learned from any dysfunctionaldynamics you may have contributed to. If you find yourself slipping into unhealthy patterns in your thoughts orBehaviors as they relate to others; stop, identify, and then deal withthat leftover issue. 4. Do you know what you want from a relationship? We enter into relationships for many different reasons and with many different expectations. Knowing what yours are will help you todetermine if this is the right relationship for you. Too often we “choose” someone using an unconscious level of thoughtas our primary input. It is there that we hold our deepest unmet needs, fears and desires. Unfortunately, there is often a chasm between ourconscious and unconscious selves that keeps this information”hidden” from our rational and thinking side. Therefore, it is very important to examine all of your feeling and needsregarding any future relationship. Honestly look at what you must haveand cannot live without. You must know what you want and need from a future partner in orderto choose the right one for you. Now, spend some time exploring these four important areas before youenter into a serious romantic relationship. By doing so, you will behelping to ensure that your new relationship will be a healthy andlasting one. What Is The Difference Between A Pick Up Line And A Opener

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Teddy Shabba Pick Up lines and Openers are often confused as being the same thing, even though in many ways they are not. Pick Up lines and Openers are both used to start a conversation with a woman that you are attracted to, and both have the potential to sound canned and insincere; after that the similarities end. Pick Up lines for the most part are statements or questions that lead to some sexual innuendo or compliment of the woman. It is generally meant to get the conversation going if it is done and taken in a playful kind of way. Even when it is taken in a playful way some women will act as if it has offended them to see how the man responds, as men who get it will still maintain their playfulness. More times than not it is neither done or taken in a playful way which leads to unpleasant conversation and bad attitudes all the way around. Openers are questions that require an opinion on the matter. It gets the conversation going and when used effectively allows the man to control the interaction and lead her to where he wants to go. At worst, it is seen for what it is n attempt to attract the woman, yet in most cases it still leads to pleasant conversation. In the end, Pick Up lines are really bad Openers or Openers are really good Pick Up lines. Either way, if you are considering using canned material make sure you make a good decision on how and what to use. Of course, choosing to make a sincere approach is always a good option as well. Can You Compete?

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Dave Ricker Are you looking to hire the best talent? Are you thinking about adding a new employee who will significantly impact millions of dollars in YOUR business? Do you want to hire the best? Then you need to show and convince your next hire that you are serious about him joining your team. In March, we received the following candidates response to two high level interviews. The candidate would potentially earn over $100,000 in base salary. As a regional salesperson, the candidate would potentially add millions in new revenue per year to the company. We edited his response. Needless to say, the first company did not convince this very capable salesperson that they wanted him, the second one did. Dave, the PROCESS speaks volumes about the company. Here I was being recruited by a well known company. The position was perfect, the location acceptable but after my first visit, I decided to fire them. They seemed shocked! The no-name hotel was a dump and not billed directly to the company. I had to needlessly change planes, arrange transportation to the interview and the receptionist had no clue who I was or why I would have an appointment with C-level executives (Im sure they would have said something to me. I dont see your name on the list of appointments today.). The senior team was sharp but not coordinated and I left very disappointed in what I felt was a complete waste of my time. (On another interview) The quality of the accommodations is not as important as the thought that went into planning. I was made to feel like a king when the company made my reservations. When the car dropped me off, the general manager was there expecting me. He explained the hotel was very convenient to the plant (the hotel was old and dated but very clean). He arranged for me to have a suite. He offered a catered dinner of my choice (not simply a take-out from Dennys next door) and cocktail service if I chose to relax. It was late and I was tired so I declined but the experience was tremendous. To top it off, they flew me coach on the way in and first class on the trip back home. All things being equal, the candidate will go with the company that shows the most respect. Even as a recruiter, I couldnt have said it better! These are his comments and he is now the top producer (also wage earner) in a highly competitive industry. Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By Sean Carter A long burning candle with the birthday persons name embedded in it not only brings a rain of joy and glory to the honored persons heart but also creates a mesmerizing ambiance. Birthday Candles gives a feeling of entirety to the birthday party. It is not only used to add a magical radiance to the whole ambience but also to embellish the special cake. Illumination of the candles as per the age of the Birthday person and then blowing them out is a fervent ritual traditionally celebrated throughout the country irrespective of age and caste. It is supposed to bring in ones life insurmountable joy along with gratifying ones aspiration. There are some traditions associated with birthday candles. Greeks use to light candles on the birthday cake and take it to Artemis. The candles were supposed to make the cake appear as glowing as the full moon. The Germans are quite well-known for their candle making skills. Some German families put one large candle on the birthday and this symbolizes light of fire. There is a renowned custom associated with the birthday candles. It is believed as well as performed in many countries that the smoke coming out from the candles after being blown out takes the desired wish of the birthday person to heaven. With this conviction in heart, the birthday boy or the birthday girl makes a wish and then wafts out the candles. If all the candles could be blown out with one breath then the wish is thought to come true. Birthday Candles can be of many kinds. Some of the most frequently used ones are Age candles, Party candles and Character Birthday candles. Age candles are very commonly used on birthdays. The candles placed on the birthday cake are equivalent to the age of the honored person. Either the number of candles corresponding to the age of the birthday man is placed on the cake or a numeric candle is placed according to the age. Party Candles add a special glow to the carnival. It is found in different shapes and styles and also goes very well with the theme of the birthday party. These candles can also be personalized by engraving the honored persons name on it accompanied by a little wish. Character birthday candles are the kids favorite. Purchase some candles of your kids favorite play characters and decorate the center table or the corners of the room with it. You will see how the room gleams with the sparkling candles. The Musical Birthday candle is ideal to craft that unique birthday cake very remarkable. It comes in the form of a closed flower where the center of the flower is lighted with a special match given along with it and as each petal opens, the Happy Birthday tune is played. Floating and scented candles are very much in craze and are also very chic. You will be overwhelmed by the plethora of options you have when it comes to birthday candles. Personalized birthday candles are one such piece which not only adds fun and fire to any birthday party but also articulates ones emotion to the birthday person. These party candles have your birthday girl or boys name printed on them, which makes for a great centerpiece at the party and gift for the guest of honor to take with them. People usually prefer drip less candles so that it does not spoil the icing of the superbly decorated birthday cake Keeping this in mind, most companies manufacture the candles in that mode. Finding a birthday candle that is right for you is easy. Whether it is that sweet sixteen, 18th, 21st or 80th there is a birthday candle that will add life and joy to any birthday party. How Are Crimes Categorized Under The Law?

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Charles Brown In the United States, each state and the federal government has its own system for classifying crimes under its own legal code. However in most instances, crimes are generally broken down along similar lines. The first classification is between misdemeanors and felonies. Felonies are more serious offenses that are punishable by incarceration in the state penitentiary for more than one year, or for very serious felonies, death. Misdemeanors are less serious crimes that are punishable by incarceration of less than one year in the county jail. Within the two categories of felonies and misdemeanors, crimes are further broken down by the severity of the crime. For example, a Class A misdemeanor is the most serious type of misdemeanor, and is punishable by a jail term not to exceed one year and a fine of a certain amount that varies from state to state. Class B misdemeanors vary widely, but generally they are not punishable with jail terms that exceed 180 days. Class C misdemeanors are generally not given jail terms but instead carry fines. In the felony category, the most serious crimes, such as first-degree murder, are called capital felonies. Capital felonies, in jurisdictions that have the death penalty can carry with them the penalty of death or life in prison. First-degree felonies are punishable with prison terms ranging from not less than five years to life. Second-degree felonies are punishable by imprisonment of not more than 20 years and not less than 2 years. Third degree felonies are punishable by imprisonment of not more than 10 years and not less than 2 years. The obvious question arises, what determines whether a particular crime fits one category or another? The answer is a combination of the state law forbidding such crimes, previous offenses and mitigating or aggravating factors. The penal code of that jurisdiction for example may classify causing the death of another into various types of crimes depending upon whether there was premeditation or whether the death was caused in the heat of passion. Theft and robbery may be classified depending upon the amount stolen and whether deadly weapons were used in the commission of the crime. The defendants criminal defense lawyer may present such factors that may mitigate the severity of the crime by showing things like a horrible childhood characterized by abuse and neglect, for example. If these factors are accepted, the crime might be lessoned or moved down from a higher class to a lower class. Other mitigating factors could be to show that the victim had previously caused harm to the defendant, that the defendants judgment was impaired through no fault of his own, or that defendants actions were completely outside her normal personality (this is what is attempted when the defense presents character witnesses to show that the defendant was normally a peaceful and law abiding citizen). On the other hand, the prosecution may present evidence to show aggravating factors, which could increase or move the crime up a class. Such aggravating factors might be to show that the victim was a minor, that the defendant used a deadly weapon in the commission of the crime, that the defendant intended to commit sexual assault along with the robbery, or that the defendants actions were particularly heinous or depraved. The defendants previous criminal history is also taken into account. A first time offender may receive a lower classification, whereas a habitual criminal convicted of the same crime, may receive a more severe sentence as a result of having his crime classified as a more serious offense. The Secret to Weight Loss

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By Dan Hammer Im going to empower you today with the Secret to Weight Loss! It is a secret that has the power to absolutely change your life, especially once you know how to apply it. And, it is a secret that is so obvious that for most people it remains hidden from view. However, once you learn this secret you will feel several different emotions. You will feel let down because it is not some exotic, magical formula that will melt away all your excess pounds although it has the power to do just that. You will feel a little silly that you hadnt thought of it before now. You will feel frustrated that no one told you this especially if you spent good money on diet programs. And, you will feel guilty because it will remove your last remaining excuse for not being able to loose the weight. The Secret to Weight Loss Revealed! Let me warn you again about the emotions you are going to feel when I reveal this secret. The key to handling these emotions is to understand how to apply the secret to your own personal life. I will help you do that but you must continue to read the rest of the article. The secret to weight loss is found in the following formula: Calories In vs. Calories Out = Weight Gain, Weight Loss or Weight Stays the Same The formula is that simple and the secret to weight loss is in how to apply the formula. Calories In represents the calories you bring into your body through the foods you eat and the beverages you drink. Calories Out represents the calories your body burns up based on your metabolism and the activities you participate in. If the Calories In are greater than the Calories Out you will gain weight. If the Calories In are less than the Calories Out then you will loss weight. And, if the Calories In is equal to the Calories Out your weight will stay the same. Application of the Secret to Weight Loss You could go for extensive testing to determine your basal metabolism and how many calories your body burns up per day. You could have somebody analyze your food intake to determine the number of calories you are consuming on a daily basis. But there is an easier method to determine where you are at in the challenge of the scale. Just ask yourself this one question: Has my weight stayed the same over the last four weeks? Your answer will reveal what you need to do in relationship to weight loss. If your weight has remained the same over the last four weeks, then your Calories In consumption equals your Calories Out expenditure. If your goal is to lose weight, then the application of this formula becomes extremely powerful because you have three methods for losing your weight. Method 1 Reduce Your Caloric Intake! Method 2 Increase Your Caloric Expenditure! Method 3 Do Both! We will discuss these methods in greater detail in just a minute. But first we need to address those who have seen there weight increase over the last 4 weeks. Lets say youve seen a 2 pound weight gain over the last 4 weeks. There are 3500 calories in a pound of fat. By using the following formula you can calculate (on average) how many extra calories you are consuming on a daily basis over your caloric expenditure: # of pounds gained times 3500 divided by 28 days equals extra calories per day 2 x 3500 divided by 28 = 250 calories per day By using the above example with this formula, you are consuming 250 more calories each day than what you are burning up through your metabolism and activities. If you used Method 1 then you would need to decrease your caloric intake by 250 calories to stop the weight gain. If you used Method 2 then you would need to increase your activity level by 250 calories to stop the weight gain. Or, you could use a combination of Methods 1 & 2 to eliminate the extra 250 calories per day so that your weight remained stable. Method 1 Reduce Your Caloric Intake! The easiest and fastest way to drive your weight loss program is through Method 1. Method 1 doesnt have to be an extreme program of caloric reduction. Remember, you most likely didnt gain all your weight rapidly but over a period of time. So, look to eliminate 50 to 100 calories at each of your meals. Here are some suggestions: The most powerful step you can take is this one. Switch from soda to water. A 12 oz soft drink has 140-150 calories and water has ZERO! The average American consumes 1.5 cans per day. Switching to water would save them 230 calories per day. Dont make the mistake of switching to diet pop! Diet pops do not eliminate thirst. Diet pops do not eliminate hunger. Water does! Plus, much of the water in diet pop is needed by your liver to help it remove toxins so little of it goes to the cells. This affects your metabolism in a negative way. Cut your spreads in half. One ounce of butter or cream cheese is 100 calories. Cut the amount you use in half and you just saved 50 or more calories. If you dont want to cut the amount, then switch to an alternative. Instead of butter use Smart Balance Light Butter Spread at 47 calories per ounce. If you use regular jam on your bread then switch to Sugar-Free. You will go from 50 calories to 10 and save yourself 40 calories. Find alternatives. Instead of mayonnaise try tomatoes and mustard to save 50 calories. Instead of a vending size bag of potato chips at 155 calories try an apple or pear at 90 calories for a 65 calorie savings plus needed fiber. Instead of a high-fat creamy dressing substitute a low-fat dressing to save 80 to 150 calories. Choosing a grilled piece of meat instead of a breaded, deep-fried piece of meat will save you 80 calories. Reduce the portion size. You like French Fries then choose the small size at 210 calories vs. the medium at 450 calories or the large at 540 calories for a savings of 90 to 330 calories depending upon your choice. Stop eating the Super Size meals because all they are doing is making you Super Sized! Take half of your restaurant meal home in a doggy bag since many restaurant meals top out at 1700 calories or more. If you dont feed it to your dog, then youve got a meal for the next day which saves you both calories and money. Instead of a 12 ounce glass of juice go with a 6 ounce glass of juice and save yourself 85 calories. To help you in your search for ways to reduce your caloric intake just Google calorie counting and you will find a host of very good websites that will help you find alternative foods and options. Just remember if you try a new product that doesnt meet your taste standards, than continue looking. Dont give up and revert back to your old ways. Also, dont cut a lot of calories out of your small meals especially breakfast and lunch. To do so will leave you low on energy and may set you up to overeat at your next meal. Method 2 Increase Your Caloric Expenditure! Exercise is the primary way to increase your caloric expenditure but it will not have the same impact on weight management as Method 1. I know there are a lot of exercise people about to disagree with me but here are the hard cold facts. The average person who weighs 175 lbs. and works out at a moderate level for 30 minutes will expend about 250 calories. Remember that small size order of French Fries at 210 calories. It doesnt take you 30 minutes to eat those French Fries. Exercise is important in weight management but it is more important to your general overall health. Find activities that will naturally add to your caloric expenditure like: Play with your children. No only will it create a special bond but light to moderate playing for 30 minutes will burn up 111 to 159 calories for a 175 lbs. person. Sit up rather than lie down. Just the change in your position from lying on the couch to sitting up will help you burn more calories at a rate of approximately 60 more per hour. Deliberately choose to expend more calories. Instead of finding the closest parking space to the front door park at the back of the lot and walk. Instead of taking the elevator to go to the second or third floor use the stairs. Instead of having someone else wipe down your car at the car wash wipe it down yourself. Instead of letting the dust collect around the house do some general cleaning. All these extra activities can help you burn an extra 100 calories during the day. Find an activity you enjoy and enjoy it. Whether it be a leisurely bike ride, a bowling group, general exercise, basketball, soccer, gardening, playing a musical instrument or some other activity, 30 minutes spent could burn anywhere from 100 to 250 calories depending upon your weight and intensity. Drink water. Just this simple activity will do wonders for improving your energy and general metabolism. This will help you burn more calories throughout the day. One of my favorite websites is www.my-calorie-counter.com which allows you to figure out your caloric expenditure by listing your activity, weight and time duration. Plus, they offer other free resources to help you in your weight management journey. Method 3 Do Both! This is the real key to weight management because it works both sides of the equation to drive a more effective weight loss program and weight management lifestyle. It will have a positive impact on your general overall health and be a contributing factor in slowing down the aging process. Now you know the Secret to Weight Loss! Its not mysterious. Its not complicated. It has no agenda. It doesnt sell any type of product. But, it works all the time. Enjoy your new found power to take charge of your weight management lifestyle by harnessing the power of this equation to reshape yourself and your life. The over 40

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By Joseph Okojie Now as I write this I do not use the term over 40-crowd in a negative way. Cmon its 2006, age really isnt that big of a deal anymore. Especially in these modern times were people are getting married later, having kids later and settling on a career later. Like I said being over 40 isnt really a big deal. The one problem seems to be with dating. People over the age of 40 are having trouble finding that special someone. Maybe its because theyve been out of the game too long or they dont have the time to look for a date. Whatever the reason maybe, there are a number of websites that are geared towards the older, more mature market. For instance there is Sweetsecond.com a site that is dedicated to helping divorced singles connect with each other. The site is completely free and offers many of the same features as the larger subscription based sites. Sweetsecond is a perfect for the over 40 crowd because, divorcees tend to be a little older and more mature than the members on a site such as Match.com or Lavalife.com. Another site that may help the 40 plus crowd is Theuniversityofdating.com; the site has been featured in many news publications as well as on MSNBC and the Today Show. Universityofdating.com offers courses, tips and advice on how to date; whether its your 2nd, 3rd or 4th time around. It offers dos and donts for dating after the age of 45 and members can even get one on one coaching from the dating diva Deanna Frazier. For those of you out there that are really serious of about being in a relationship there is Eharmony.com. Eharmony differs from the other big sites because they tend to focus more on providing long lasting relationships rather than quick fun casual dates. Eharmony claims more marriages than any other site because of their Compatibility Matching System which narrows the field for millions to a select few who share the same levels of compatibility. The site has accounted for more than 6,000 marriages since 2001. Eharmonys test has 29 dimensions and is based on categories like humor, character, intellect, passion and spiritual beliefs. Relationship For Life

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Philip Gould Many times in our life we join that special someone (or so we think) and wonder could this be my relationship for life? Sadly, a lot of those relationships are not what we are looking for in life. Finding that perfect someone can be a daunting task, and sometimes we may feel that it will never happen, right? If you feel like this; that all the good ones are taken, that a relationship for life is avoiding you and not seeking you, then perhaps you need to change your perception on how you are going about this. HOW? I hear you ask. Well, let me tell you a plain and simple truth, one that has been around for a very long time, for so many centuries they lost count as to where it came from, even well before the Biblical days. This truth man has sought all his days on the earth and yet it stares at him in the face daily, lives in him and through him and is part of him, constantly, till the day he dies. What is it? Ill put it very simply, because it can get long winded and scientific. Here it is: What you look for, that is what you will find I know, I can hear you saying, what on earth has this got to do with finding my relationship for life ? A LOT! Every time we start thinking about that special someone we would love to be with, share that special, life-long relationship with, we tend to put in the air-of-doubt syndrome, Yes, thats right we put the mockers on the very thing we want to happen. Let me show you what I mean. It would go something like this: I know hes the one for me I can feel it,oh but he wouldnt want a relationship with me! I could spend my whole life in a relationship with this woman, who am I kidding, she wouldnt want me! How long will this relationship last ? I know I love our relationship but do they? Any of these sound familiar? Im sure you have heard of the Law of Attraction. If you havent then I suggest you listen to what I have to say. If you do know what I mean then lets take a look at how it affects your relationships. The Law of Attraction comes into play every millisecond of your life, in fact it never stops working in your favour, thats right YOUR favour, giving you everything your heart desires. Of course the one BIG mistake we all make with this law is this; we forget that this law does not decipher what we conceive as good or bad it just listens to what you ask of it and it obeys, (and this is the stinger) without question!. For example: If we take the phrase above, I know hes the one for me I can feel it, If you had left it at that and that is what you were truly feeling, through every fibre of your being, then it would be honoured by this law, no questions asked. BUT then you had to go and confuse it, put a spanner in the works by saying, oh but he wouldnt want a relationship with me! Tell me, out of those two distinct feelings, one of assurity and the other, a complete lack of self esteem, which do you think the law of attraction would gravitate toward, to try and give you that relationship for life - a fleeting glimpse of a positive feeling or one that resides within you day after day? Of course the latter one because the emotion, the feeling which is attached to the thought is stronger, you believe this much more than the having the right relationship for life and this is what you will get no questions asked! What can we do about this, what methods are there to help us correct such negative emotions? For a start let me just say that you CAN have that relationship for life, you ARE deserving of it, and you are a worthy partner to complete the picture with the right someone. A loving, caring relationship is your birthright if this is what you wish. If you want a relationship for life, one that you deeply care about, that is what you must constantly think about and do NOT let the air-of-doubt syndrome slip in. You deserve the best, and it is waiting for you always. Only when you put the right thought and attention on it can you have it, and believe me, you do not want a relationship that is otherwise wrong for you. I have been there as I am sure many of you reading this right now have been. Do not even start thinking things like: I always get the dud one OR I seem to always choose the wrong partner OR Why am I forever in the wrong relationship? because that is just what you will end up getting more of. Instead, think of what you DO want in this relationship for life and give it all your attention and feeling. Thats all very well, I hear you object, but its not so easy. I cant just stop those negative, limiting feelings and thoughts rising up. Would you like to know HOW to do just that? Would you like to know HOW to successfully begin to place your whole focus on the desired result a life-long relationship of complete satisfaction? Would you like to hear a true story that illustrates exactly how it works; How the application of a simple principle that is easy to incorporate into life, brought two people into a wonderful relationship that continues to deepen and grow after over 16 years of marriage? How to Evaluate an ISL Uranium Company

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By James Finch Over the past two years, the common myth circulated among investors has been pounds in the ground. How many pounds of U3O8 does a company have in the ground? The more pounds a company claims, and more importantly gets institutions and investors to believe, the higher its market capitalization has run. Bigger is always better in most cases, but recovering uranium through an ISL operation, like any other mining operation, has its quirks. During the early stage of this uranium bull market, pounds-in-the-ground was an important yardstick. But just as one can have a million-ounce gold deposit, with a complexity of metallurgical problems that prohibit a robust economic recovery or offer a paltry grade of gold in the ore, investors may discover the same problems in properly evaluating a companys uranium claims. Instead of asking a companys investor relations department how many pounds of uranium they have in the ground, find out how much uranium pounds they can actually recover and produce, and how much it will cost them to mine their property. Ask instead these questions: How permeable are the ore bodies you plan to mine? What is your average grade? Over what area does your rollfront extend? What is the depth of your ore body? By the time you have finished reading this feature, you should have a better grasp on the economics of ISL mining. You should be better equipped to make a more intelligent decision about your favorite company. First, lets examine the nature of a uranium mineralized rollfront. Understanding the rollfront will give you the key tools required to accurately evaluate the prospects of any ISL uranium development company. THE ROLL FRONT IS YOUR FRIEND In the first article, we interviewed Charles Don Show, who helped pioneer ISL uranium mining as an economic means to extract lower grade ore from underground mining operations. In Snows 1978 article entitled, Gas Hills Uranium District, Wyoming A Review of History and Production, published in the Wyoming Geological Association Guidebook, he wrote about the development of the roll front theory. He wrote about discussions the project geologists were having in the summer of 1955 about Utah Construction Companys recently acquired option on the Lucky Mc uranium properties in Wyomings Gas Hill District: Offset drilling Project 4 intersected one major mineralized zone with a grade thickness product over 10 percent U3O8. An offset of this and one other mineralized hole about 2500 feet away were barren. Many discussions of why the ore was in these isolated pods were carried on late into the night It was during the period of development of the reserves that members of the staff started referring to different layers and separated pods as areas of mineralization where chemical changes had caused deposition and soon the word chemical front was in common usage. Three years later, Paul A. Riddell prepared a report to document the ore occurrences at the Lucky Mc mine. He was among the first to use terminology that has since become an integral part of the Roll Front concept. In his project report, Riddell wrote: In conclusion, the uranium appears to be restricted to more porous beds, but is not evenly distributed within these beds. The boundaries between ore and lean material are erratic sometimes sharp and sometimes gradational. They do not appear to be related to changes in sedimentation within the beds. Others have suggested that the boundaries represent chemical fronts, and this theory appears reasonable in light of present information. Originally called chemical fronts, these pods contained various grades of uranium. Each pod or roll front is comprised of different mineralization. Understanding that mineralization and how to extract the uranium alone determines how viable a deposit might be. If you imagine roll fronts in a uranium area as if they were lily pods in a pond, you are off to a good start. When a company announces it has uranium mineralization on its property, this could mean it has many pods, or fronts. Ideally, you hope to have multiple fronts available on your ground. Typically, the meat of the front (multiple percent of uranium) is only a few feet to ten feet wide at the most, Strathmore Minerals president David Miller explained. This is the part that your ISL wells have to address correctly. If you look at all the mineralization in a single front system, above 0.03 percent, then from the tails to the front could be 100 feet or more. If you look at the multiple fronts in stacked sands, and you look at one end of the system to the other, the width can be several miles. The length of any of these can be tens of miles, but the good stuff comes and goes. Miller compared these multiple fronts to pearls on a string. There may be one, two or three roll fronts in one well field. There may be more than three roll fronts, Miller added. There may be that many or more even in one pattern. Again, they are pods and they may be stacked in layers, like lasagna. The number of roll fronts in a pattern does not really matter, except for operational reasons, Miller explained. It is more complex to properly address multiple roll fronts than a single roll front, and you may not be able to optimize recovery of all of them. PERMEABLITY IS THE KEY Getting down to the business of ISL mining a roll front requires that we understand the role permeability plays in this mining method. Permeability is the flow rate of the liquids through the porous sandstone. Knowing what the permeability of the orebody will let you know how much water you can get through the sandstone formation. According to Uranerz Energy Chief Executive Glenn Catchpole, who is also a hydrologist, the typical porosity of sandstone is 10 to 20 percent. Porosity is the void space between the sandstone grains. By comparison, clay has a porosity of between 45 and 55 percent. Catchpole said, A propertys formation has to have sufficient permeability to make the project economic. In order to dissolve the uranium into solution, you have to know the pore volumes. Thats the measure of the pore space in the rock. Youre passing fluid through the formation about 30 times to dissolve the uranium, explained UR-Energy Chief Executive William Boberg. Part of a successful operation is knowing how many pore volumes we feel its going to take to make it all work. Uranium Energy Corporation Chief Operating Officer Harry Anthony, an internationally recognized ISL expert, noted, You need higher grade ore for tight formations. With high permeability, you can space your wells further apart. As with any industry, it boils down to economics. How much to operate the plant? Anthony gave an example of an ISL plant operating at 5000 gallons per minute. Running 24 hours daily, the plant would process 7.2 million gallons of water. Thats more than 2.6 billion gallons of water processed every year. Operating costs are based upon cost per thousand gallons of water. This includes electricity, reagents and labor, said Anthony. On a daily basis, it would cost more than $21,000 to run an ISL plant, based upon Anthonys calculations of $3.03 per thousand gallons of water. Using a 5,000 gallon per minute scenario, a plant might produce 2360 pounds of U3O8 every day or 80,000 pounds monthly. The cost to produce each pound would be $8.18. Using that math, the uranium grades would be about 44 parts per million (ppm) or 0.08. Anthony said, I like to see 70ppm or higher. A grade of 0.13 is 75ppm. With low permeability in a tight formation, you may need to space more wells in a typical well field pattern. How much does each well cost? That depends upon the depth of the roll front deposit. While explaining that costs are fixed and variable, Anthony computed the cost of a production well for a 500 foot deposit at $15,000. An injection well could cost $11,000 to install. By comparison, in New Mexico, where the deposits are wider and of higher grade, a 2000-foot production well might cost $27,000 and the injection well could cost $18,000, and it would still be economic. Why are we talking about well installation costs? Again, it comes back to permeability. If the flow rate is lower, bringing an ISL well field into production costs more. Glenn Catchpole explained, If your plant is running at 3000 gallons per minute (gpm), and the formation is tight, each production well might only have 10gpm flowing. A more permeable formation might have 20gpm flowing. That means twice as many production wells are required to satisfy the ISL plants 3000gpm flow level. Installation costs have doubled, and that would also impact operating costs. And a company which once might have looked like it had an economic orebody could now smell like week old fish. PUMP TESTING FOR PERMEABILITY The pump tests are extremely valuable, explained Boberg. The pump tests are one of the go/no-go considerations for what were doing. Boberg told us UR-Energy expected to start drilling by the end of April or May on their Lost Soldier property in Wyoming. Well be putting in the initial drill holes for the tests, and well be doing the pump tests following that. In one of series of tests, Boberg explained, We take a core out of the hole (3 inches diameter and 6 inches tall) and test it vertically by forcing fluid through it. Because the movement of the fluids in the substrata, from one well to another, is horizontal, the only way to really find out the permeability and porosity is by drilling a hole and putting a pump in it. Catchpole explained the procedure, You put the equipment down your monitor wells to measure drawdown. Quite simply, you measure how far the water goes down. The pump test will tell you permeability. A good pump test takes between 24 and 72 hours to complete. Catchpoles Uranerz Energy plans to run their pump tests this summer on their Excalibur property in the northeastern Wyomings Powder River Basin. The make-break point for a formations permeability is its Darcy rating. How high is the Darcy? A typical Darcy can range from minus 1000 to plus 3. The higher the Darcy, the more permeable the formation and that would help determine how economic the orebody is. An acceptable range would be one-half to one Darcy. What is a Darcy? Catchpole said, It is gallons per day over feet squared. He added a pure hydrologist would calculate the feet per day or centimeters per second to get a more accurate permeability assessment. However, the Darcy is a widely accepted measuring unit in the industry. Until a company gets its Darcy rating on its property, one cant be completely certain the property can be mined by ISL. What guidelines does one depend upon? Catchpole said, Historical research can give you permeability levels for a formation. So we asked Catchpole how he felt about his Excalibur properties. He answered, We know our properties are permeable enough. How permeable will be answered with the pump tests. OTHER FACTORS Uranium grades can be a contentious point, so we asked our ad hoc panel of experts. Grade is the driving force, Harry Anthony shot back. We asked him about companies which said they could run an economic ISL operation with grades as low, or lower than 0.02. Anthony laughed, They are crazy. Theyd be out of business before they started. Catchpole was more reserved in responding, It probably wouldnt have an economic recovery. Strathmores David Miller offered a more technical analysis, Frankly, that will not likely have enough recoverable pounds. The operating grade feeding the plant will be too low. What is the best grade? 0.5, 0.10, or 0.15. It depends upon the deposit. How much can you actually recover? Boberg explained the problems of pounds-in-the-ground. Lets say weve got 100 million pounds of uranium now. How much of that can we actually mine? There may be 10 million in a particular orebody that looks like we can mine it. If we build an operation around that, we might be able to develop an access to maybe 7 million pounds of that. And in a recovery process, we might only be able to recover 70 percent of that. Every company has to also be very careful in studying their orebodies before building their plant. Weve got to make sure that the plant were building isnt built over a potential resource, Boberg emphasized. Weve got to drill under that to make sure were not accidentally putting the plant over another part of the deposit. Another worry with an orebody is channeling. You dont want channeling, Catchpole insisted. Channeling suggests the water is going through a very narrow path. If your orebody has a thickness of ten feet and your channel of flow is one foot, you are missing most of the uranium formation, said Catchpole. You may have good flow rates, but not much U3O8 recovery. Sometimes, a channel can be a natural occurrence, where the flow is along a fault. The channel creates a smaller, but preferred path for the fluids to flow through. . Unlike fracturing a formation to release natural, or coalbed methane, gas, a fractured channel has the opposite effect on ISL uranium mining. How much does it cost to install a well field pattern, and is it economic to do so? The art part of an ISL operation is interpreting the ore body and the hydrology, Catchpole explained. Your hydrologic test results determine where you think the solutions are going to flow best. In other words, which direction has the best or least permeability. This has to get factored into how you lay out those patterns, the width of your orebody, and how far out to the edge of the orebody you go. In a well field pattern, Strathmores David Miller can determine the economic viability of the ground. The keys to what is recoverable are: (a) how many pounds are recoverable per pattern? And (b) what does it cost to install a pattern? Miller explained. If you have 10,000 pounds in place and can recover 8000 pounds, your well field development cost can be $8/pound, if it costs you $80,000 to install that pattern. Add your operating cost, capital amortization and restoration cost, and you would have a total cost. Finally, the cost to install a pattern also depends over how much territory your roll front deposits run. Ten million pounds over an area of one-half mile will cost less than those same pounds over an area of two to four miles, remarked Terrence Osier, senior geologist for Strathmore Minerals. That means more injection wells and more production wells. Depth of the wells influences its installation cost, as mentioned previously, and impacts its daily operating cost. When uranium costs were very low, a few years ago, a company needed 70,000 pounds per pattern, Harry Anthony commented. Now a company might only need 20,000 pounds per pattern to make it economic. There are many variables within the above advices provided by these experts. However, the important point to realize is the time of hyperbole and hoopla over pounds in the ground has passed. As more uranium development companies move closer to establishing an ISL operation, the go/no-go consideration, as William Boberg aptly described it, will come down to permeability. After that, the economics of a project will either make it viable or not. COPYRIGHT 2007 by StockInterview, Inc. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
